Killalea Camp Reports
From October 20-22, Years 3-6 went on a wonderful camp to Killalea Sate Park. Below are all the highlights as remembered by the children. Don't forget to also have look at the pictures in the Photo Gallery
On Tuesday 20th of October 2009, year 3 to 6 left at 8:30 am to go to Killalea State Park. We all loaded our luggage onto the bus and got on. On the way, we talked and played games, the whole way. When we arrived, we put all our bags where the cabins were and looked around.
Then we drove to the education centre and met Andrew and Julie. We got name tags and went to play games. Andrew told us the whole point of doing this was to learn about teamwork. The games were set up on the oval next to the education centre. I was in a group with Belle, Kate, Peta, Charlotte, and Maddison. All the games were fun but a real brain teaser.
After the games we had morning tea. Then we made nests out of half a tennis ball and wrapped brown netting around them. Then we rolled up clay balls and made them into eggs, so when we put them into the rainforest we would see the next day what predators made their marks in them. After we put the nests in the rainforest we played games with the parachute in the oval. There was this one game where we shook it up then tried to run over the big mountain. It was really fun.
Then we went back to the cabin, we got assigned our rooms, I was in a room with Jessica, Grace, Meg, Charlotte and Belle, and we were in number 7. We hung out in the rooms for a little while. We got told to make up a routine to do around the campfire that night. Then we had showers, got our cutlery and had dinner. For dinner we had steak sandwiches. Then we all showed everyone our routines. We had lots of stunts in our routine, like Charlotte doing back flips onto our pyramid.
We had dessert which was hot chocolate and something else then went back to our rooms and went to sleep. Well that was the plan.
The next day, we were going canoeing!!! We had breakfast and walked down to Minnamurra river, and sorted out canoes. Finally we were allowed to get in the canoes. Belle and I were in a canoe. Our canoe was big and red and got a lot of water in it. Yay! We canoed up the river, I was in the back. Then we rafted up and played a game where Belle and Erin had to run across all the canoes until they reached the one on the other end. Then on the way back Belle and I tipped off. Well that’s what we told everyone… When we got out Belle and I were soaked. We had morning tea at the Minnamurra river. We walked back to the camp and had lunch. Then we went to the education centre and checked our nests. All my eggs were gone! We went into the education centre and had a talk about what we had to bring to the place we were going tomorrow. This place was called The Lagoon. We were all exhausted so we walked back to the camp and had dinner. Then we went to the beach and played around a bit. Then we went on a night walk. We had bird callers and lots of other weird gadgets. It was thick rainforest we were walking through which was kind of freaky. Our torches were confiscated until it was like pitch black.
We went back, had dessert and went to bed. Finally some sleep.
The next day we packed our bags, went to the education centre, then went to the lagoon. I got to use a cool device which I was walking around eavesdropping with. We took surveys on how many animals we could see. Then we went back to the education centre and went bike riding. The bikes were all really big but we all fitted onto them. It was so fun! I had a really bid wedgie after we finished though. After we flew kites. Mine wasn’t very successful. Then finally we said goodbye and got on the bus, went back to camp and got our bags. We had lunch and did a final performance. We got on the bus and drove home. Most people slept and the rest were exhausted!
We got home at 3:20, then went home.
Finally. It was the best camp ever.

On the 20th of October we went to school at 8:15 and we left at 8:30. We got on a coach and drove to Killalea State Park, we arrived there at 9:30. When we got there we dumped our bags next to the cabins and we got name tags. Our teacher’s name was Andrew and a lady called Julie. Then we had morning tea. Andrew and Julie had set up lots of games in a oval that was next to the education centre. Then we were spilt into groups of 6. The games were really fun and some were a bit tricky.
We had lunch at the oval and then made nests out of tennis balls and string. We then made three eggs out of clay. We put the nest in the rainforest and in the trees next to the education centre.
Julie and Andrew set up a big parachute in the middle of the oval and we all grabbed the edges and we played lots of games. We walked back to our cabins and found our rooms. The year 5 and 6 girls from Glenquarry were in a room together.
We had free time to run around and to make a routine to perform at the camp fire that night. For dinner we had steak sandwiches then we lit the camp fire and sang songs and performed our routines.
The next day we went to Minnamurra River and went canoeing. It was awesome!!!
After canoeing we had morning tea. We walked back to the education centre, and had lunch then we went to the rainforest to collect our nest. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the camp site. We had dinner and then we went for a night walk along the beach and in the forest.
On last day we had breakfast and then went to the education centre and got ready to go bird watching at the lagoon. At the lagoon there were hundreds of swans and one pelican. We ate morning tea at the lagoon and walked back to the education centre. We drove back to the camp site, had lunch and packed up our cabins.
We drove back to the education centre and did bike riding and kite flying. Then we went back to cabins and put our bags in the coach and drove home.
We got back to school at 3:20 and our parents were waiting for us in the car park and then we drove home. It was the best excursion ever!!!!

We had lunch at the oval and then made nests out of tennis balls and string. We then made three eggs out of clay. We put the nest in the rainforest and in the trees next to the education centre.

Glenquarry and Kangaloon went to a camp at Killalea State Park.
We left school at 8:30. We caught a Pointings bus down and we got down there at 9:30. Then we got dropped of at the cabins and then we put down our bags at the cabins. At 10:00 we drove down to the learning centre. When we got to the learning centre our teachers names where Andrew and Julie. Then we had to get broken into groups of 6 there was 5 groups of 6. We started the games one of the games were Frisbee, bike riding, strategy games and team work games. Later that day we made nests out of tennis balls that were cut in half. After that we got some string and glued it to the tennis ball. Then we put our nests in a tree then we played a game with a multi coloured parachute.
After that we got to go to the cabin and set up our beds. In our cabin we had 8 boys from both schools. It smelt lot by the end of the camp.
We got time to plan for our skits around the camp fire. That night we preformed our skits. Us boys did a human pyramid. The next morning we went canoeing, Clay and I were in the same canoe. We went canoeing for about 2 hrs. After canoeing we went back to camp. Then we went back to the education centre wherebwe collected our eggs. That night we went for a night walk and we got back to camp at 9:00pm. In the morning we went back to the education centre and went for a walk to the lagoon we had to try and find as many birds as possible. Then we walked back to the education centre. Then we went bike riding on big mountain bikes and we were also flying kites. After that we went back to the cabins and got our luggage and then the bus came and we put our bags on the bus and headed home. We got back to school at about 3:20, then we got off the bus and went home.
It was awesome!!!!! I would so go again.

On Tuesday 20th of October I got up at 6:45am.
We arrived at school at about 8:00am and left school at about 8:35am. It took about an hour to get their. So we arrived at 9:35am and went to our cabins and set up our rooms.
We had morning tea at 10:30am and got into our activities straight away. In my group I had Maison, Jo, Jo, me, Vinsca, Mia and Brianna. After we had done our activities we went in and got some materials and made some nests and eggs. For some experiments we put them in the rain forest and bush. Mine was in the bush. Then we went back for afternoon tea.
We had to have a shower before tea. After tea we did skits by the camp fire and then we went to bed.
The second day we went canoeing and I was with Kate and Isabella Knowles. It was so much fun. Then we went back to the education centre for mostly the rest of the day and discussed stuff inside.
That night we did not do skits the second night because we went on a night walk. After the night walk we had hot chocolate and went to bed.
The next day, well the last day, we went down to the education centre and then went to the lagoon to do bird research. After that we did bike riding and kite flying then the coach came but before we left we had afternoon tea and sat around the camp fire, Erin, Jo, myself and Brianna sang a Hannah Montana song. Then we left Killalea state park and got back at 3:20pm and went home.

On the 20th of October, Kangaloon and Glenquarry years 3 to 6 all went to Killalea State Park for a 3 day camp.The first thing we did was go to the camping spot were we were sleeping. We got all are stuff and dumped it in our rooms and then we went to the eduction centre. They had set up a lot of activities for us and we had groups of about 6 and we did about 10 activities. They were really fun. When we had finished all the activities we into the education centre and then we made bird nests and bird eggs. We went and put the nests in the forest to see if any predators would go and steal the eggs. The next morning we would go and see the nests in the forest.
After we had put the nests we went back up to the camping spot to make are beds up and unpack a bit of stuff. Wad showers and had dinner and then Belle, Makayla, Jess, Meg, grace and I all made a routine altogether. It was really fun. We had a bonfire then went to bed.
The next morning then we had breakfast and then every one got into their swimmers and headed down to the beach to go canoeing. Everyone went and started canoeing and we went for about 1 hour and then walked all the way backed to camp and had lunch and played. Then we had dinner and went to bed. The next morning we went kite flying and bike riding. The bikes were really big and really fun and when we were finished we went to the camp and packed up for home. We got all our stuff and put it on the bus and then we got on the bus and went home. All the mums and dads were there to pick every one up.

Tuesday 20th at 6:00am I got up and got dressed. I had breakfast and got in the car. We got to school in time to have a tiny play. The bus got here at 8:00am. Erin and I were partners. We were on the bus for 1 hour.
When we got there, we unpacked and went to the education centre. We played some games and then had morning tea. Then we played 4 way tug-a-war, and my side won! After that we went back to our cabins to settle in.
After maybe about 1 hour we were called down for lunch. We had whatever we packed. I forgot what I had, though. Then we layed our sleeping bags out on the mattresses.
Then we went down to the education centre and made nests. Then we went to the rain forest and put the nests in trees. Then we went to the wood land and pet nests in bushes and trees.
Then we walked back to the cabins, and had afternoon tea and kicked back and relaxed for the rest of the day.
For dinner, we had steak sandwiches. We sat around the camp fire. Erin, Hannah, Ko and I performed 'Hello World. Then after all of the performances we had hot chocolate then brushed our teeth then went to bed but my cabin was wide awake talking!
The next day was room inspection and our cabin won by half a mark. Then we had breaky and went to the lake to get started on the canoes. I shared a canoe with Izzy.M. We were really good at it we were one of the 1st canoes back. We got out had morning tea then went back to camp.
When we got back we had free time then it was lunch. We had wraps for lunch. After lunch we went to check on our nests then had to sit down and figure out what marks were in them the we drove back to the cabins to have after noon tea then we had more free time! We had dinner then went spotlighting until a ridiculously late time!
We woke up then had breaky knowing it was our last day. We got to go on a bike ride and fly kites and before we new it it was time to go home! I hope to go back there one day!
